Haute Couture in Kraft

Sometimes, you can just let the paper do the work!  With Graphic 45 papers, that's always an option.  Love these fabulous fashion-filled designs in their simple tan and brown!

Of course, Dot took center stage even with all these lovely ladies! She's stamped on vanilla-colored cardstock and I used a partial oval mat to add her into the scene with all these other lovely fashionistas!

If you are getting that fashion feeling, why not join in with the Fashionista Rebel Challenge on RRD?

My Garden in Stripes

Another paint chip strip card.  This one a little more subdued than the others.  These are so much fun and so quick to put together.  The format really fits almost any subject, color scheme and designer paper.

I chose an old Basic Grey background paper for this card and I had just the right paint chip sample for it too!  I thought the paper and the colors had an earthy feel so I went with a nature-themed image.  This Lily of the Valley is one of my go-to stamps!

I Can Never Craft Uncaffeinated Again

So the other day when I was working on some new art, I was working in the middle of the night.  This is not at all unusual as I am a renowned insomniac.  My problem was that usually, I have a bit of caffeine to help me get through these restless times, but after just getting back from vacation for a few days I had neither Cola nor tea in the house...caffeinated beverages are almost as essential to my supply list as paper and ink!

I made two bad decisions.  The first was to try and save time and use my Making Memories paper trimmer to trim out some cardboard for a canvas I was working on.  Yeah....that didn't work.  So, new paper trimmer is on the way from Amazon.

My second indiscretion was a move made in haste.  I was so excited about how lovely my distress and alcohol ink background was turning out, I just couldn't wait to cut out my oval panel.  The problem...I never took the piece off my lovely Inkssentials Craft Sheet.  So now I have a craft sheet with a lovely oval cut into it.Brilliant!

I went  nice and Clean with this made-at-midnight card...I'd say simple too but there's way too much ink on this card for that :) I still think it qualifies as CAS though in that it finished with a nice clean layout.

I created this card by layering alcohol inks over smooshed distress ink.  I love the effect...too bad my camera isn't as great at capturing the fabby colors and intensity.  Picture butter yellow with some vibrant orange, copper and mustards.

Miss You and Feeling Blue

Another monochrome card in blue.  Love Thomas from Rogue Redhead's Relish Reading. plate.  He just looks so earnest.

For this card, I've again used a paint chip sample strip.  It's a fun way to play with color!

Love Your Fashionista Style

Bea is strutting her stuff for this month's Fashionista Rebel Challenge on Rogue Redhead Designs!

Sail Away

Another day, wicked easy card.  I love this little lad from Beach Babes and I think he needs no embellishment, so this time I just stamped him clean and mean onto a paint chip sample.

As some of you know I have a weakness for messing with this diy detritus.  A while back, I did a little tutorial for Gingersnap Creations with paint chip scraplings.  Some of my scraplings were even featured in Craft Stamper.  This week, I also posted a set, of which this card is one, on Rogue Redhead Designs

Beach Babe

I love the simplicity of using paint chip samples.  It gives so much zing with such ease.  This weekend I created a Simple Set with some paint chip samples I had hanging around.

My brain has been on "beach" all week, so that's what theme I chose for two of my cards. This little vintage seaside sweetie always makes me smile.  I set her on a sea of taupe colored sample chips.

I completed the seaside feeling with the "Oceans of Love" sentiment and some nice seashell designer paper.  The paper has a slight touch of texture, making it an even better background for this lovely lass.

Fashionista Rebel Challenge

These cards are for the new Fashionista Rebel Challenge on RRD where the idea is to submit fashion-themed art! I turned to my favorite designer paper manufacturer for this one - Graphic 45! I used their fab color scheme and added in a couple of my own fashion stamps to complete the look and create a pair of matching cards!

For the first one, I simply inked a sentiment from Milliner Misses, "Good Friends are Always in Fashion" in Paris Dusk Memento - what else would you use for a fashion-themed piece, right?  The paper was so yummy, it didn't really need anything else!  I matted the designer paper panel and the sentiment stamped onto some subtle text designer paper, in navy cardstock.

Stamps: Sentiment from Milliner Misses (Rogue Redhead Designs)
For the second, I decided to bring out Olive, Kitty and Eva so they could let their style shine.  They are also part of my Milliner Misses mini!

Stamps: Trio from Milliner Misses (Rogue Redhead Designs)
I am entering the ladies into the following challenges:

More Play Time

I was hacking around with my alcohol inks...and this happened.

I had been making another project and ended up with this really pretty scrap bit, so what else could I do but stamp on it? I stamped the galardia from Floriculture and a sentiment from the same plate. There was so much going on in the inked panel, I kept the rest of the card very simple.

Simply Art

The Roguette, my amazing teenage daughter, and I were playing around with some embossing powder over the weekend.  I showed my junior crafter how fun it is to emboss random images on glossy paper and then add fabulous color with distress inks.

The Roguette, of course, outdid her mom with no problem at all.  I had a fabulous embossed panel and when I went to iron off the embossing powder to reveal the nice crisp white reverse images the rotten paper stuck to my creation.  I salvaged some of it for this colorful clean and simple card.  Can you tell the theme of my panel was "art"?

The Roguette decided to create a stylized notebook for a friend, with a shared favorite band as the theme.  Any guesses what the band's name is?  I think this is the first time I've ever had stamps that so perfectly fit what she was working on. Isn't it totally cool?

Today, she created a second notebook for herself. Same theme, different colors. I'll try and a pic of it to share as well. It's fabulous!

Sometimes, it's fun just to mess around and make something fab and personal.
