Rain or Shine

The weather is being quite unpredictable.  Rain one moment and sun the next.  I found this image from an old image exchange in my pile and thought it was perfect for today's chaotic clime :)

I used the Dutch Dare Sketch for this week for this card.  The colors are a bit different for me but I colored the main images ages ago and I don't think I really thought it all the way out.  Despite that, I think it all came out looking quite pleasant anyway!

Here's hoping your day is filled with parasols instead of umbrellas!

Mousy Love

My desk is getting clearer and clearer as I am using up all the images I had colored but for which cards had not yet been created. These cuties were supposed to be part of a mini-card set but I thought they would look great all on one card.

I was inspired in color by Jybrid Chick's Card Caravan Challenge to "Use Pink". I kept it simple and sparse so as not to get in the way of all that mousy love :) The simple design made the card work for the current Charizma Cards Challenge - No Flowers Allowed.

Stamps: Mouse (Penny Black) and sentiment from Snow Hugs  (Rogue Redhead Designs)
Here's hoping you have a lovely day!!

Soul Blossoming

The challenge at City Crafter this week is "A Rose is a Rose".  I loved the inspiration photo and it got me thinking.  I am on a rampage using up random items on my desk and I have wanted to do something with this collage image for quite a while.

I used only three stamps for this one. The background is made up of the two roses from the RRD Floriculture set and the sentiment is from the same plate. To see how I made it, you can check out my post on the Rogue Redhead Blog. Loving all the inspiration over at City Crafter and I was tickled pink (well maybe apricot seeing the card I made) that they chose my card as a Spotlight Artist pick last week.

CAS Lily of the Valley

When I saw this sketch on Freshly Made Sketches, I just knew I had to use it!  Love it!

Here's the fab sketch I used!

Using an old background from my stash, I stamped the lily of the valley from RRD's Floriculture plate on the main panel. I then stamped the lily on a post-it, roughly torn around the image and adhered it over the stamped flower panel. I stamped the Almanac page background from RRD's Relish Reading over this panel and also onto another strip of the background which was used to create the squares.

I am also entering this card into theIncy Wincy Designs Challenge - Vintage.

Hope you all have a fabulous and floral Monday!

Simply Floral

Ages ago at Gingersnap Creations, we all had a lovely image swap which was a lot of fun. I decided, while cleaning up, to finally do something with couple of images I had left. It's been so long that I have lost the cheat sheets which told me what image was from what company. I think the top one is Stampin' Up and the bottom may be Squigglefly but decidedly unsure.

The flowers are so pretty just as they are that I did not want to mess them up with any elaborate framing so I've added the simplest of mats to add some color and just let the blooms blossom forth from the page.  Both are colored simply with Copic markers.

The first card is being entered into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - Pink and Green

Flourishes - Use a Flower

The second card will be entered into these following challenges:

Paper Pretties - Bold and Bright Colors

Anything Goes Challenge Blog - Black with One Other Color

Off to tend to my garden!  Hope you all have an amazing and sunshine-filled day!

A Day at the Beach

I guess my mind is still wandering off to the beach. I took out my PaperTemptress papers again for that fresh red, white and blue color combo and a combination of textures that I have come to love together for summery cards. I started with a base of White Felt Grandee with an inset of Red Pepper Thick Columns and a square of Deep Blue Crepe Ruche.  This time I added in some gingham designer paper to tie in with the colors I used on this cute image from RRD's Beach Babes.

Stamp: Beach Duo from Beach Babes (Rogue Redhead Designs)
This great design is similar to one I have used before but the inspiration actually came from the awesome sketch on Deconstructed Sketches.

Have an easy breezy day!

Totally Spoiled

Last week, I was delighted to receive several wonderful packages in my mailbox.

The first to arrive was a gorgeous faux altered book and a gorgeous card from Penny Bennington.  They are both beautiful and delicate.

The card is so soft and subtle.

This is the cover of the faux altered book.

It has a panel which opens to reveal Meagan from RRD's Relish Reading plate stamped on the Almanac background from the same set.  Isn't it gorgeous?

The next thing that arrived was a fabulous package from Deb Corder. It contained a sweet ATC in fresh and fantastic Spring colors and an extraordinary canvas.

The ATC features Bea and a sentiment from RRD's Milliner Misses mini.

Check out how much great dimension Deb added to this beautiful mini masterpiece!

The other piece included in the package was this amazing canvas! So much detail!

It uses the cute little Beach duo and sentiment from Beach Babes.  I can also see some of the Almanac page from Relish Reading in the background.

Deb has created a very sophisticated and detailed background, but she did not stop there. She added some amazing embellishments as well. In the midst of this sweet bouquet of flowers is a small shell to complete the beach scene.

The final fun surprise to appear in my mailbox was my Card of the Month swap card from Debi Wind over at Stampers Corner. I have this very same stamp and adore it. I really love the design and color palette that Debi chose. So pretty!

It's so nice to know such a fabulous group of artists and to get to actually own some of their spectacular work! I so love being a stamper!

Le Jardin

Happy Monday! The sun is shining again. My garden is blooming. Time for some flower cards!

Stamps: all from Floriculture plate (Rogue Redhead Designs)
I used a variety of distress inks to create a mini masterboard and then cut it into strips which I rearranged into the above pattern. I used the Cosmos blossom, the fern lead, the rose and some sentiments from my Floriculture plate (Rogue Redhead Designs).

Here is the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches that I used to create this card.  I think I came pretty close to the original this time.

I will also be entering it in the following fab challenges:

Glitter Geeks - Polka Dots

The Hybrid Chick Card Caravan - Flowers

Hope your day blooms with beauty!

Beach Babe

Weekends have become stamp time for me. During the week has just been brutally busy these days. So after I cleaned up the insane mess on my desk, half my stamping time was over! As fortune would have it in the chaos on my craft table were several images I have had for awhile from an old image swap, some backgrounds I made last week and, as always, my Rogue Redhead binder. Whoohoo! I made a stack of new cards and had a lot of fun!

This was my first creation!

It was based on this fun sketch by Linda over at City Crafters.

Once I had started with these papers and color scheme, I went on to make a few more cards and ended up with a little set. You can see them over at Rogue Redhead Designs.

Flower Power

I find myself over and over creating very simple cards without a lot of embellishments. For this card, my only embellishment is a little bit of thread wound around the main image.

This image is from a Stampin' Up! set I haven't used in ages. While this blossom could be many different kinds of flowers, I've made it a Brown-eyed Susan as it is a personal fav of mine.  The color is Pearl Ex mixed with Future Floor Polish and painted onto the image.  It gives a little shimmer.

I am entering this card into the following charming challenges:

Papertake Weekly - In the Garden

Art with No Boundaries - Fit to be Tied

Hooked on Crafts - Flowers

I hope your day blooms with promise, prosperity and passion!

Orange Ya Lovin' It, Dude

I have fallen in love with this little cat. It's so fun to paper piece. Vintage and cute all at once. He's from the RRD Just Sayin' plate

I never used to like cats at person all the way. My hubby changed all that with the best birthday present EVER...a sweet little black and white rescue cat. Fifteen years later, she's still a joy and delight. So, I decided to create a cat card for the great guy in my life!

I felt like celebrating so I used my pennant stamp, also from Just Sayin'.  The sentiment is from Floriculture.  The color palette was inspired by the Warm Tones for the Gents Rebel Challenge on RRD!

Stamps: cat & pennant from Just Sayin' plate; sentiment from
Floriculture (Rogue Redhead Designs)

I am entering this card in these fantastic challenges:

Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog - Paper Piecing

Hope you all have a spectacular and purr-fect day!

Glorious Greens

You know I love one-color cards so I could not resist the Card of the Month swap at StampersCorner when monochromatic came up as the theme. Determined to use up my scraps, I used some designer paper included in some long tossed magazines. It is kind of cool though! I added the Cosmos bud from Floriculture for a focal image along with a sentiment from the same set.

I think this card would also be perfect for the following challenges:

The Craft Place - Monochromatic

Drunken Stampers - It's Not Easy Being Green

One Stop Craft Challenge - Monochrome

Yahoo for the Unrulies

Today, I am showing a couple projects I made for the Unruly Yahoo group's 1-4-1 swaps.  The card theme for this month is Anniversary.

I used a sketch from StampersCorner as inspiration.  The panel on the left is made up of scraps I had on hand from a BasicGrey 6x6 pad.  I finally used one of those long thin scraps I always keep but forget to use.  The main image is stamped with StazOn on a watercolor postcard which has been tea-stained.

As you can see, I stamped the sentiment on patterned vellum in a random pattern on the right-most panel.

For the ATC 1-4-1, our theme is "love" this month!  I have enjoyed all the great wedding articles so far on UPA and I guess they put me in that wedding mood as I used picture of newlyweds as my main collage image.  A simple sentiment and some clear rhinestone-esque embellishments finished it off.

Participating in the monthly 1-4-1 swaps is wicked easy!

1) Become a member of our Unruly Yahoo Group and add your info to our member database.
2) Make a card or ATC using the designated theme for the month for each format.
3) Upload to the appropriate photo album in the Unruly Yahoo Group by the 20th of the month.
4) When the partner list comes out on the 25th, send your creation and prepare to receive your partner's!

See - quick and easy and you always know that your partner has completed their end of the swap!

Happy Mother's Day

I've always thought this image was just too cute! The little mouse has done the impossible and lassoed the butterfly. I think motherhood is a lot like that. It seems like an impossible task but occasionally we succeed in "lassoing the butterfly"! I did that this weekend when a very excited tween gave me a big hug for painting in her room and making it look cool and funky in the process! Now, if making a tween happy is achieving the almost impossible, I am not sure what is!

To all the Moms, Grandmas and Moms-to-Be, a very Happy Mother's Day to you all! I hope you all have impossibly amazing days!

Stamps: Mouse (Penny Black) and sentiment (My Sentiments Exactly)

I have entered this card into the following fab challenges:

Rebel Challenge: Warm Tones for Dad

It's the second Saturday of the month so there's a new Rebel Challenge at Rogue Redhead Designs - Warm Tones for the Gents!  For the next month, we are asking you to heat up your color palettes with warm colors and use them to make a great card for that special guy in your life!

Here's one of the samples I cooked up!  I used the Sandy Beach Background from Beach Babes along with some great yellow and orange distress inks to make an interesting background.  I added a sentiment from the mix-and-match half plate, Bits and Pieces, and some collage circles which I sponged to match the colors in the background!  Easy peasy and a great card for Father's Day!

Stamps: Sandy Beach from Beach Babes
and sentiment from Bits and Pieces (Rogue Redhead Designs).

I hope you will join in with the newest Rebel Challenge! I've got a couple more cards to show you on that post.

Distressed Marie

I had that rare opportunity to stamp all afternoon yesterday! This card came out of a few different challenges but started with Simon Says which asked us to Show Our Favorite Stamp. Marie from the RRD Relish Reading set has always spoken to me. Her pensive but vaguely haughty expression just makes me smile.

The layout for this card came from the latest Freshly Made Sketch - #34. I loved that I would have a bunch of lovely panels with which to play. Craft Your Passion has a challenge for Distressed/Torn Edges. I decided to add a distressed edge to all my panels! I also added some sponging to the edging to make it more pronounced.  The paper is all from a BasicGrey 6x6 pad.

Stamps: Marie and sentiment from
Relish Reading plate (Rogue Redhead Designs)
Hope you have a wonderful day and get to daydream a little bit along the way!

Cute Vintage Style

Ever need to spread some good news?  This cute couple are the perfect ones to help get the word out!  Just sayin'.

I got this layout from the weekly sketch for the Stampers Corner Yahoo Group.  I am really getting into matted panels.  Simple but effective.

I had fun with the base card on this one.  I stamped the flower from Just Sayin' on a River Rock base with Versamark. Gotta love Versamark when you can't find the coordinating ink anywhere.  I liked the result as it added some life to the plain background.

Stamps: flower, sentiment and couple from
Just Sayin' plate (Rogue Redhead Designs)

This card is also being entered into the following charming challenges:

Creative Craft Challenges2 - Anything Goes

Shopping Our Stash - Use 3 or More Designer Papers (both panels and image stamped on DP)

Keep smiling and have a fab day!

Simply Missing You

Even though my amazing husband is currently en route home, I am definitely still missing him.  He's been away for over a week, a very long week!  Guess you may think I am crazy but we are still in the honeymoon stage 15 years after the ceremony.  Goofy, right?

To keep myself  busy while I waited, I made this sunshine-colored card to ward off my blue feeling. I was browsing challenge blogs when I found two CAS challenges that made me smile.

The layout was inspired by Clean and Simple Stamping's Sketch #189.  I took a little liberty with the arrangement, but I think it is still pretty close to the original intent.

The color scheme came from Simply Less is More's Yellow ChallengeCrafty Boots is also having a Yellow Challenge this week.  Guess everyone is craving sunshine!

Well, off to while away the last few minutes before he arrives.

WOYWW and a Whopping Mess

I finally took a pic of what was on my workdesk AND it's Wednesday AND I almost forgot to post it again for WOYWW.  Where is my head?

Here is the nightmare that is my work area:

What you can sort of see in the center is a background I was putting together for the Rebel Challenge on RRD on Saturday.  It's upside down on the Sandy Beach background so that I can put another big acrylic block on top to get nice even pressure.

In the middle is another hexagon card that I was playing with but haven't decided if I like yet.

In the upper left, you can see the little fairy I made for my Mom that I JUST posted. Under that is a the pad of 6x6 BasicGray papers I used to make a vintage feel card.

Here's a little glimpse.  I am posting the rest of the card tomorrow.

Whew!  Got it off to clean it up!! Yikes, what is wrong with me?

Not Making a Mother's Day Card

This week I am NOT rushing around to make a Mother's Day card.  Why?  Because my mom, sweet as she is, gets really really really annoyed if my siblings and I try and recognize Mother's Day.  It is her philosophy that we should love and cherish her every single day and not just one day a year.  I really could never argue with that.  I have tried to explain that we can still do that and have Mother's Day but Mom just won't have it.  Of course, it made things a little tricky for my sister, brother and I during elementary school where well-meaning teachers tried to persuade us to make cards that would never be delivered.

Today, I decided to make a little "I Love You" card for my fab mom and send it next week, well away from the danger zone.  It's cute, right?  So is she!

I used the great Sketch #164 over at CardPatterns!  I did change the circle to an oval, but I think that's okay.

I used an image I got from a sweet friend overseas. I have been procrastinating using the last of these images but, ya know, it's for Mom so.....

Stamps: Fairy (HAnglar & Anglar); sentiment (Rogue Redhead Designs)
I thought this card would also work well for the following fantastic challenges:

Anything Goes - Things with Wings

Bearly Mine Challenges - Fairies

Papertake Weekly - Cute Cute Cute

Hope you all have a fabulous day with lots of green goodness, sunny outlooks and flowering fancies!

Bits and Pieces and Hexaliciously CAS Cards

After all this time with no crafting time, I've gotten a little punchy! I busied myself punching out hexagons from scraps of designer paper I had on hand.  I thought these would make a great set for my Simple Set Saturday post on Rogue Redhead Designs.

This is the first of the series.  I could not believe how easily these went together!  No rulers needed!

Sentiment from RRD Bits and Pieces set
