Thinking of You

I had a few backgrounds left over from another stamping adventure so I thought I would get busy and use at least one!

This Lily of the Valley image lends itself to simple cards. Love the ease with which this card came together! It's just a distress ink background with some simple paper piecing.

Thinking of You
Stamps:
lily from Floriculture plate and sentiment from Bits and Pieces plate (Rogue Redhead Designs)
Cardstock: glossy text weight cardstock (PaperTemptress); Whisper White and Chocolate Chip (Stampin Up)
Ink: various Distress inks (Ranger); StazOn

Have a fabulous weekend! Hope you have lots of fun!

Triple Play on Challenge Day!

Dontcha love it when a plan comes together? I was blurfing around and found a sketch challenge, an inspiration challenge and a recipe challenge that all came together to become my card for today!

I started with the excellent sketch at Card Patterns.

Then, I decided to try out the recipe challenge at Stamping for the Weekend where they were asking for Blue, Buttons and Bling. Neat combo, huh? Next, I saw the Special Day/Event Challenge at Simply Create and I had an idea! I grabbed my Bits and Pieces set and my Relish Reading stamps and got to work! Bits and Pieces has individual words that can be mixed and matched to create very specific sentiments like the one below.

Happy Birthday Girl
Stamps: words from Bits and Pieces plate and girl from Relish Reading set (Rogue Redhead Designs)
Paper: the Goods line (American Crafts)
Cardstock: Brocade Blue and Whisper White (Stampin Up)
Ink: Black Tuxedo (Memento)
Copics: B21, B23, B24, E02, E07, E09 and E11
Embellishments: 2 blue butterfly-shaped buttons; 3 rhinestone hearts; striped ribbon

Clean and Simple Hello

I'm having a ton of challenge fun this week! Today, I'm playing along with Clean and Simple Stamping and their 141st Sketch!

This sketch had me at "Hello".

Here it is! Super fab design and easy to adapt!

I still had some of my yummy Cashmere paper from BasicGray laying around, so I used that as my jumping off point. When it came to a sentiment, I went to my Bits and Pieces set and choose the "hello" stamp. Here's the finished product:

Hello
Stamp: hello from Bits and Pieces (Rogue Redhead Designs)
Paper: Cashmere from Urban Couture (BasicGray)
Cardstock: Almost Amethyst, Brocade Blue and Chocolate Chip (Stampin Up)
Ink: Timber Brown (StazOn)
Tools: circle punch (Creative Memories); scallop circle punch (Marvy)

Meaning to say a cheery "hello" to someone? Get going!

May Flowers

Over at Crafty Creations, they are having a May Flowers challenge! Awesome! To make it more challenging, not only did you have to create a card with a flower, but also add patterned paper and some ribbon. Too fun!

I picked up my copics and got to work coloring these fab flowers from the Floriculture set. I decided on blue this time.

I only had one piece of this yummy BasicGray paper but I am trying to be good and not hoard the pretty paper. What good does it do in the drawer, right?

Green Monochrome

This week The Shabby Tearoom is having a Monochrome challenge! I love monochrome so this was a great challenge to get me back to stamping.

I suddenly got switched from off-site to on-site with fixed hours at my job, so stamping has not been easy. I was happy to get some great time today to sit and play!

I decided to go all vintage with this one. I started by stamping some Ranger Distress ink on my craft pad, misting the ink with water and smooshing some glossy cardstock through the resulting mess. I then let that dry and stamped a Cosmos bud and this sentiment from my Rogue Redhead Floriculture plate onto the panel with more distress ink. I added some more Forest Moss Distress ink around the edges, matted with Chocolate cardstock and voila! My central panel was done. To create the back panel, I used distress ink on some PaperTemptress Silver Lustre paper and then overstamped with the Almanac background from the Rogue Redhead Relish Reading set.

Here's my entry:

Soul Blossoming
Stamps: Cosmos bud and sentiment from Floriculture plate and Almanac background from Relish Reading plate (Rogue Redhead Designs)
Paper/Cardstock: Vintage Silver Lustre and glossy cardstock (PaperTemptress); Chocolate Chip and Always Artichoke (Stampin Up)
Ink: Forest Moss and Peeled Paint (Ranger Distress Ink)

Hope you have a sensational day!

Another Flowery Card

Today is my first official day posting to the PaperTemptress blog as a member of their DT.

Here's a peak:

To see the rest, check out my post on the PT blog.

Daffodil Day

My beloved small fry was back today to ask me to make one more teacher gift. One of her teachers adores daffodils so little one asked if I could make some daffodil notecards.

After going through my collection, I found I only had one daffodil stamp. It is a beautiful stamp from Beeswax but it fills the whole card so it took some time to come up with a design that would work. I settled on a quick and simple spotlight.

I stamped the image in brown on kraft cardstock and then stamped and colored the same image on white. I punched out circles around the four flowers, matted them with dark brown and lined them up on the card bases.

I finished up with a full color version of the image for the accompanying card to go with the gift.

Hope your day is filled with flowers and sunshine!

Teacher Appreciation Week

My darling daughter came home to tell me that she needed Teacher Appreciation gifts ASAP! Yikes! We ran out to the bookstore and picked up what we hoped would be good reads for her fav teachers, but how to make this gift a little more personal? Well, I went with bookmarks to go with the books.

For her Math teacher:

For the Language Arts teacher:

For the Science teacher:

And finally, for the Social Studies teacher:

Making all these bookmarks put in right in the mood for the new Gingersnap Creations Art Exchange - Travel Bookmarks.

Simple Set: Bleached Kraft

I love making simple cards and bleach is a great way to accomplish a great one-layer look with minimal effort.

I am submitting this simple card for the Crafty Creations #116 - White Space! It did say in the instructions that the white space did not need to be white so keeping my fingers crossed.

Thinking of You
Stamps: girl from Relish Reading plate and sentiment from upcoming Bits and Pieces plate (Rogue Redhead Designs
Cardstock: Kraft (Stampin Up)
Ink: Jet Black (StazOn)
Other: bleach; cotton swab; heat tool

Going Wild at Gingersnap Creations

or rather Wild West! How fun! Our newest monthly theme on the GC blog is Wild West!

Back at the ranch the Gingers are teaming up with the Technique Junkies Design Team to provide some great inspiration for our upcoming challenges and, with Technique Junkies as our May Sponsor, there will also be great prizes for our challenges.

Being a long time TJer, I had to get in on the fun early. Of course, being the noted rogue I couldn't join in without bending the rules so I used a couple of my favorite TJ techniques but not quite as they are supposed to be done.

I took a great background I had made with the Reinker Splash technique and paired it with the Block Collage technique which typically is done with a monochromatic color scheme....which I didn't actually use. Here's what it looks like:

Wild West Cowgirl
Stamps: all images from Cowgirl Blues (Oxford Impressions)
Cardstock: Kraft (Stampin Up); glossy cardstock (Stampland Chicago)
Ink: Jet Black (StazOn); Ballet Blue, Night of Navy and Creamy Caramel (Stampin Up)
Technique: Reinker Splash and Block Collage (Technique Junkies)

Hope you'll join in on all our Wild West fun at Gingersnap Creations! We have tons of great challenges, tutorials and features coming up in May!
