One World One Heart

This is my first year participating in this amazing worldwide event for bloggers! I am so excited! I am always ready to meet new bloggers and enjoy some great art.

The event starts today, January 30th and runs until February 17th, 2011. So there's lots of time to check out all the great blogs participating and all the wonderful door prizes available!

According to the rules, I need to tell you a little about myself. From early childhood, my mother introduced to me the wide and wondrous world of crafting - knitting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, painting and toymaking. I loved it all, but had not found my passion yet.

I started stamping in 2005 and blogging in 2008 and became instantly and totally addicted to both. I have had the pleasure of meeting some fabulous stampers and amazing mixed media artists along the way who have guided , taught and supported me as I learned all kinds of great techniques and design tips.

My favorite part of dabbling in papercrafting and mixed media is that there are always new ideas, new techniques to try and basics to revisit! Since I have Multiple Style Disorder and Stamp Acquisition sickness as well as being a paperoholic, doing lots of different things works out well! Now, if only I could focus my compulsion to keeping my stamping area usable....instead of continual adding to my supply inventory.

I guess the best way to get to know someone is through their art so here are some of my favorite creations over the last few years.

My first love is still creating stamped cards, but I have recently taken up assemblage on painted canvases and wooden creations and it is one of these pieces that I will offer up as my "door prize" for the One World One Heart event! You can see it below!

I decided to use the idea of One Heart for my project and as soon as I decided on that, the concept of "Mother" loomed large and "The Journey Commenced" came to life with collage images and embellishments. It's approximately 8.75" in height and roughly 6" across at it widest point. The bit of old text along the top portion of the hanging says "The Journey Commenced".
